Crocodiles and hippos

Image
Sun-drenched hippopotamuses and Nile crocodiles in close proximity to each other in Zambia's Kafu National Park.  Carnivorous Nile crocodiles can grow up to 20 feet in length and weigh about 1-1.5 tons.  ?  Crocodiles often eat fish, but they do not hesitate to attack any animal that comes within their range with their jaws as strong as 3000 psi (pounds per square inch), but they do not often attack hippopotamuses.  Crocodiles are almost non-existent near the hippopotamus.  This may be due to the hippopotamus being a herbivore and realizing over time that the Nile crocodiles could not win a battle with a giant deer more than two feet long.  The hippopotamus, nicknamed the "water horse" by the Greeks, is considered the world's most aggressive animal, and because it is often herded, a crocodile in the middle can cause severe injury or death.  A pair of fangs that can grow up to two feet in a large mouth, and strong jaws as well as a thick ski...

water bears

Launched in 2007, the FOTON-M3 satellite is an unmanned spacecraft, but one special faction traveled to expose it to ultraviolet light as well as solar wind, which is a very low-oxygen environment, and to see how safe it would be.  When they are sent into space, ordinary animals and dehydrated animals are sent here, where they are exposed to ultraviolet light and solar wind with vacuum conditions and brought back to Earth.  When they are re-examined, they stop most of their metabolic activity and, although in a cryptobiotic state, soon resume normal activity in large numbers of dehydrated and some dehydrated animals.  This is considered to be a further confirmation of the ability of this omnivorous creature to cope with adverse conditions in all extreme environmental conditions on Earth.  These are called toadgrades, and they bear a resemblance to the first arthropods in evolution.  Most of these eight-legged creatures are smaller than 1mm in size an...

Why do wolves make a "hoo" at the heart?

Image
Wolves have been our favorite animal since we were little.  And that's something we know.  That wolves make a "hoo" to the full moon or to the rising moon at night!  But something we all do not know.  "Why do wolves do that?"  If so, today's story is about that.  There are many myths associated with wolves and the moon.  These stories vary from country to country and I would like to cite below one of the most famous of these stories.  According to one Greek story,  Long ago, there was a close bond between wolves and spirits in the past.  Because of this bond, these souls are able to talk to them,  "Empowered to speak with spirits."  Because of this power wolves began to talk to spirits every day.  People got to know about this after talking for a long time like this.  So people who are obsessed with this power are wolves ..!  "We too have been asked to give us the power to speak with souls."  But...

Hubble Space Telescope Supernova Explosion!

Image
The Hubble Space Telescope has photographed a supernova explosion in the spiral galaxy NGC 2525, about 70 million light-years from Earth.  To the left of the photo below, the supernova appears as a bright spot of light.  The supernova that occurred in 2018 was named SN 2018gv and has been observed by the Hubble Space Telescope since February 2018.  Originally seen as a very bright spot of light, this supernova has gradually diminished in brightness and gradually disappeared.  By now, this may have largely become a neutron star.  What makes this type of supernova explosion important to us is that we can use their brightness to calculate how far away that supernova is from Earth.  Then the distance to the galaxy where the supernova is located can also be calculated.  In this way, scientists calculate the distance from the Earth to the farthest galaxies in the universe.  Watch the video in the first comment to learn more about super...
